I know it happens to every bride but it is not fun and it is not easy: dealing with WEDDING STRESS. I have large zit on my left cheek and I wonder why Mt. Kilimanjaro must sprout up on my face at a time like this. We're 10 days till the wedding. It needs to go away.
So in checking our wedding venders today, I call the tuxedo shop to make sure the measurements of our best man are in. I was actually calling them in a day after I got them. (Yes, he waited until this late to confirm he was coming..) On the phone the agent says, hmmm we don't have a wedding under that name. I give my name, the groom's name, my father's name and the best man's name. Nothing. We try all of our phone numbers. Nothing. We try the date of the wedding the location...nothing. They do not have a record of us ever coming in.
My heart is beating. I'm at work and also working on deadline for Sweeps (4 stories air next week while I'm out of town). No worries. I hang up and call my father. He says, no - we didn't pay deposits. I hang up and call my mom. She says yes - we paid deposits. I log onto my bank account and check the dates. Mom logs on and checks her credit card statements. Meantime, Caren the kind manager of Men's Wearhouse, says she'll call the district manager and see if there is anything they can do to get us in tuxedos on the wedding date.
3pm: I have to go into our nightly news meeting with colleagues and my boss and concentrate on the stories of the day and the ideas I'm pitching for Saving You Money.
Back at my desk, I call the manager once more and she says "We give all brides and grooms a large black and white folder with the group number on the front when a booking is made." I don't remember that at all and it dawns on me (DING!): "Is there another formal wear shop in the Wilmington mall?" "Yes, there's Cape Fear Formal Wear." Poor Caren. Poor Mom, poor Dad, my poor pounding heart. I had called the wrong shop!
All's well tonight and I printed the place cards out with no drama. Thank goodness.

I feel your pain...I mean, not your exact pain, but I've got the wedding stress thing down.
Yes, try to enjoy the planning. It goes quickly! Can't wait to hear more about your dress. ;)
