Life is good

Do you notice the positive aspects of everyday life? This is something I struggle with when I feel overwhelmed.

I interviewed a "Life Coach" today for a report I am researching. Maria runs Lovin' Life in Eugene. This lady is full of energy and even though I tend to view life as half full and half empty at the same time...she has an amazing outlook on things.

From talking with her for about 20 minutes for the story - I have a challenge to pass along. We can do it together!

1. To begin, we are supposed to start noticing things in our life to be thankful for. Even if it is simply: "Whew, I was able to pay my rent this month. I'm thankful to have a place to live." 2. Whatever "challenge" you are up against right now, meditate on an ideal outcome. Then, imagine the outcome you want happening. 3. Do not worry. Start training your mind to dwell on something else as soon as it wanders to anxiety.

Maria says these steps won't immediately snap us into a wonderland of milk and honey but she says give it a try for a week and then revisit whether your mindset changed the course of your life...even in small ways.

Here's what I plan to do: 1. Have grateful thoughts about my upcoming nuptials (so many friends and family are doing so much for us!). 2. Imagine walking down the aisle happy and energized with content guests. 3. Rather than worrying about things I cannot control, I'm going to think about the little details things I adore about my big day.

Anything you can do in your life to try this with me?? It's only 1 week.

Disclaimer: I did ask Maria, "What about people who are naturally negative and find this exercise to be ridiculous?" She said pretty much said not everyone can go from miserable to fulfilled overnight. Ha!

small change, I'm going to think about the little details things I adore about "our" big day then, as for the rest "come what may"
