Boycott media with an agenda

Our KVAL reporter was verbally assaulted by protestors at a local "Tea Party" where people protested taxes. They got in her face screaming about the "liberal media" and also grabbed her reporters notebook. What the hell is wrong with people?

As a journalist, I have a real problem with media promoting agendas.

Apparently, this morning FOX News Network announced that liberal media would not cover the "Tea Parties" and if they do show up to give them a hard time. FYI: All media other than FOX Network is not necessarily the liberal media.

I am so embarrassed for the conservatives who got in the face of our young reporter tonight. They are giving their cause a bad name and they seem like fanatics. The abrasive and outrageous behavior of these people overshadowed their message today.

In our newsroom, the phone has been ringing off the wall with calls from people attending this protest demanding coverage and the funny thing is WE WERE THERE. Several have been horribly rude to me for no reason!

While I have an issue with media promoting agendas, the simple fact of the matter that historically, the media which were traditionally newspapers at first have usually been the mouthpiece of the various political parties throughout this nation's history. The core of people's frustration with the media is precisely the political agendas it has promoted at the expense of truth and fairness.
Of course, this country isn't the only one with this issue.

As for Fox News claiming to be in any way associated with the Tea Parties, they are pandering. Where were they when Bush and the GOP controlled Congress were running up massive deficits, lying about Iraq, trampling on the Constitution, etc...? The Tea Parties are a continuation of frustration at Washington in general, not any political party in particular. The Democrats and GOP are equally bad. Fox News and the GOP once again is just pandering for cheap publicity.

Denae, I can't even describe how well you hit it spot on. I dealt with 3 to 4 calls between the day before and day of the "tea parties" of people yelling at us to cover it. To quote you "the funny thing is, WE WERE THERE." We even had a live shot at 5 & 6 at the site of the tea parties and STILL got calls of people wondering where we were.

After we covered it, it was how was didn't cover it right, aka, the conservative side upset that we showed BOTH sides of the story.

Great YouTube video, gotta love Fox's honestly... President Obama has cut taxes, bailed out banks, and passed a multi-billion dollar stimulus package in his under 100 days in office... and there's anger about President Obama raising taxes? If we're looking at this in a purely factual basis, how can anyone be so jaded?

One day at a time...
